Date Summary:   3 Sessions from 08/04/2020 to 08/06/2020.   (See sessions tab for more information)

Description:

Participants will have the opportunity to attend a series of seven Zoom webinars presented by local experts. Topics will include information on domestic and sexual violence as well as human trafficking and how these issues impact students in the classroom. All are welcome!

DAY 1:
Zoom 1 - Domestic Violence 101 with Megan Brechon, Children's Safe Harbor: Topics include power and control, the cycle of violence, teen dating violence, the effects of domestic violence on children, and available community resources.
Zoom 2 - Trauma in the Classroom with Jen Macek.

DAY 2:
Zoom 3 - Sexual Assault 101 with Jimmie Getter & Samantha Thomas, RSAC: Provides participants with an understanding of sexual abuse and how it impacts children, statistics, warning signs in children and teens, handling a disclosure, and community resources.
Zoom 4 - Sexual Abuse via Technology with Jimmie Getter & Samantha Thomas, RSAC: Focuses on online grooming tactics of predators, warning signs of abuse, how to discuss with children and teens, how to handle a disclosure of abuse, and available resources.

DAY 3:
Zoom 5 - Human Trafficking 101 with Mary Landerholm on behalf of RAASE: Foundational training giving participants an understanding of human trafficking and the different types and experiences of exploitation.
Zoom 6 - Speaker Panel Discussion with Megan Brechon, Jimmie Getter, and Mary Landerholm. Panel will address questions that arise during the Summit. Questions may be submitted in advance or throughout the Summit sessions.
Zoom 7 - Self-Care for Teachers with Nicole Bennett, United Way: Self-care can help alleviate some stress caused by secondary trauma and compassion fatigue.

All educators and school staff are welcome to attend. PDCs/CPDUs and CEUs are available.
