Date Summary:   1 Session on 10/25/2019.  

Description:

Participants will engage in a full Poverty Simulation exercise in the morning to gain a deeper understanding of the role poverty plays in the lives of their students and families. In the afternoon, we will explore the economic detriment this has on families and how this can lead to multiple traumatic experiences that may be out of the family's or individual's control. We will discuss research-based studies regarding poverty and trauma as well as the participants' experience in the simulation. Participants will learn about the correlation to trauma and strategies regarding how to identify and work with students from a low socioeconomic status.
