"Ditch That Textbook" - Engaging Students with Meaningful Technology
Start Date: Thu, Mar 01, 2018 8:30 am - 3:30 pm Workshop #: 6677
Presenter(s): Matt Miller

Giovanni's Restaurant, 610 N. Bell School Road, Rockford, IL (View Map)
Date Summary:   1 Session on 03/01/2018.

Technology is increasingly available in classrooms. Now the question isn't "What can I use?" as much as "How can I use this in meaningful ways?" Or, more importantly, "How can it enhance and improve learning?" In this workshop, we'll dig deep into several ways that free technology can kick learning up a notch, including:
-- How to give students a voice
-- How to connect students to the world
-- How to provide feedback that students can really use
-- How to help students create with what they've learned
-- How to share their work with a bigger audience than just you
This session will be hands-on and interactive, so bring a fully-charged device and be ready to get your hands dirty! It's led by Matt Miller, a blogger, speaker and author of Ditch That Textbook who has spent more than a decade in public school classrooms.
