Description:
School leaders are under great pressure to produce “right brain” outcomes of student achievement. At the same time, current research reflects the growing need to develop “whole brain” capacity if students are going to be able to succeed in the emerging global economy. Daniel Pink’s new book, A Whole New Mind, offers tools and strategies for the application of knowledge, creativity and innovation to the needs of America in a global economy. In this workshop, participants will learn strategies that can assist in teaching core academics for at-risk students, bright but disengaged students who tend to drop out of school, and students who must be prepared to deal with life by operation from both sides of the brain. This academy will look at the trends that are changing America’s role in the global economy, the Six Senses for Right Brain Thinking, how to lead schools in integrating those senses with left brain application and bring the whole new mind to bear on both just-in-time learning and life-long learning. ADMINISTRATORS' ACADEMY credit available, however, any educator may attend.

Learn how to integrate technology in the classroom better, learn how to learn with technology first! Workshop attendees will walk through a sequential process of learning how to learn with technology that will expand their own personal learning strategies, their use of technology in the classroom, and how technology can improve education as a whole. We will explore several online applications, experiment with mobile learning applications, and perhaps look at some new technologies that are not within the mainstream market yet. Our overall goal is to break away from the project oriented technology integration approach into a fresh new approach focused solely on learning with technology!
