Description:
This hands-on workshop will focus on the nuts and bolts of a guided reading session: before, during and after. The Fountas and Pinnell Guided reading format will be emphasized. Participants will explore implementing literacy stations that directly support reading and writing instruction, and answer the critical question, “What is the rest of the class doing while I am teaching guided reading and small groups?” Management, modeling and organizational options that meet the needs of the classroom will be presented. Participants will receive a copy of "The Next Step in Guided Reading" by Jan Richardson.
