In this session, Attorney Cara Smith from the Illinois Attorney General's Office will provide information on the recent changes in the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Open Meetings Act (OMA) that take effect on January 1, 2010. FOIA and OMA are designed to hold governments accountable to the people they serve. Attorney General Lisa Madigan has worked with legislators and reform advocates to strengthen these transparency laws and ensure that Illinois residents have greater access to their government.
